The toolkit of of good practices is one of the outcomes of the project ETNOFOLK that involved project partners from four countries of Central Europe (Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia and Slovenia). The objective was to collect examples of good practices in preservation, promotion and utilisation of folk culture heritage. Browse the Good Practices below or read more about the toolkit.

  • Straw Plaiting
    Czech Republic | Woodworking

    Miloslava Zatloukalová comes from a locality with a long local tradition of straw plaiting. Through her activity she contributes to the preservation of this traditional craft. Her work is based on traditional forms that were developed under the patronage of the Centre for Folk Art Manufacture (ÚLUV) and acquired a highly aesthetic appearance acceptable for present-day users.

    Wooden carved crosses that can be found along roadsides, by churches or other sacred places are typical material culture phenomena of the Podpoľanie region in Central Slovakia.
